Given a level playing field ...
all things come to those
who live long enough.

If we live long enough,
we may know three our fathers

We may never have had children
but discover that we have them nevertheless

Given time,
we may come to know love
and lessons
from having judged
and been judged
unfairly.

We may witness
someone we love
be born.
We may watch
someone we love
die.

We may know more than one family,
we may out-live all of them
and friends.

On a given day
we may want to cram so much into living
that we list all that we wish to see, do, experience.
On the very next day
we may wish to live
no more.

We may no longer be able to shed tears
having lived so long, witnessed so much
joy and sadness,
and yet still cry.

Universally,
We don't get to choose.

But eventually ...

All things come to those
who live long enough.

For some, life is short.
For others, far too long.
